2017 is finally over. 2018 cannot be worse, politically speaking, can it? I wasn’t sure if I should use a picture of festive fireworks in this post, but then I thought, what the hell.
Of all the miseries in the world, is there one that’s not man-made? And if they’re man-made, we can fix them if there’s a will. Wouldn’t it be something, to see the world’s political, religious and military dictators and lunatics gone, one by one, fired by us, the people? The sooner, the better. Of course, it cannot happen as long as so many willingly continue to vote such people into power and call it progress.
Words matter. Art matters. More than ever. I hope we’ll continue to make our voices heard, but at the same time I hope that the New Year finds us expressing ourselves creatively, creating cities and streets full of people and life, and penning tales that touch hearts, leave a smile on the reader’s face, and even change minds in harsh times.
My resolution is to pick up my pen more often and join the voices of reason. My mind is full of words. Who knows how they will manifest themselves: Eloquently? Angry? Inspirational? Or simply as plain weird stories? I do know that I will continue to write about writers and writing. Yesterday, the Daily Post prompt was Almost, and a story title has been simmering in my head since then: The year I almost wrote a book. So, yeah. 🙂
When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it — always.
